Koh Samui, 280 Km2, is the largest island of the Gulf of Siam. It is part of an archipelago of 80 smaller islands of which 6 only are inhabited. It is almost literally an island of coconuts and forested hills, on chalk mountains, culminating at 636 meters. Its beautiful beaches, its jungle, its hills and waterfall create a very changing landscape, rarely found in other islands. Drive around the island, about 60km,  takes less than one hour.

The easiest way to reach Koh Samui from Bangkok is by plane. Flight takes around one hour and is actually only made by Bangkok Airways who owns the beautiful small airport. Return flight from Bangkok to Samui costs around 7 000 Baht.

Located on the eastern cost of Koh Samui , Chaweng is the most popular tourist place on Samui. You will find here the longest beauiful beach of  the island and many places provide a large range of water-based recreational activities. As Chaweng is also the biggest town, to go shopping in the innumerable shops on the main road will show you the natural kindness of the thai people and the art of a friendly bargaining.
At night, Chaweng offers all the charm and magic of a lively night life, with a great variety of
restaurants, bars, night-clubs, cabarets and discothèques.
