Born in December 1984, David Guerrier began to play the trumpet at the age of seven. He entered the Lyon Conservatoire Supérieur de Musique and studied with Pierre Dutot. In June 2000, he received a unanimous 1st Prize with a special mention for excellence. Since October 1998 he has also been studying the barocco trumpet with Jean-François Madeuf.

David Guerrier took part in many summer tours (Orchestre de la Méditerranée under Henri Gallois in 1998, EU Youth Orchestra under Sir Colins Davis and Bernard Haitink in 1999 and under Vladimir Ashkenazy in 2000), including the 3rd XXth Century Music Academy under Pierre Boulez and David Robertson in July 1999.

As a soloist, he plays with orchestras (France, Germany, Bulgary, Portugal, etc.) and gives recitals with piano or organ, as well as chamber music concerts. He had a huge success at the Lisboa “Folles Journées” with the Moscow Viva Musica Ensemble (Chostakovitch’s 1st piano & trumpet concerto), Sully sur Loire Festival (Hummel’s Concerto with the Orchestre de Chambre de Toulouse), Salon-de-Provence Festival (with Paul Meyer, Emmanuel Pahud), Divonne and Auvers-sur-Oise Festivals (recital with piano and with organ), as well as with the Orchestre National de Bordeaux under Hans Graf. In January 2002, he plays again with Hans Graf in Bordeaux and in Nantes (“Folles Journées”), then with the Orchestre National du Capitole de Toulouse and in Paris with the Orchestre Colonne. In 2003 he performed the Chostakovitch’s concerto in La Roque d’Anthéron Festival in France with the Viva Musica Ensemble under Alexander Rudin and in Paris (Théâtre des Champs Elysées) with the Moscow Chamber Orchestra under Konstantin Orbelian. In 2004, He toured Japan and the United States (New York and Washington). In 2004/2005 he will play with the Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France and the Orchostre National de France.

David Guerrier was awarded many times : 1st Prize at the Markneukirchen International Competition (Germany, May 1998), at the Porcia International Competition (Italy, December 1999), at the Mock Orchestra Audition (ITG lecture – Richmond, Virginia – May 1999), and at the Solo Competition (ITG lecture – NYC – May 2000).

In 2000, he is finalist at the Eurovision Competition for Young Musicians (Norway) and at the Narbonne Brass Quintett International Competition with the Brass Quintett Turbulences from Lyon. He is also the award winner of the Pro-Europa Foundation.

In October 2000, he received the First Prize at the Maurice André International Competition in Paris, and in September 2001, the First Prize at the Philys Jones International Competition (Guebwiller) with the Quintett Turbulences. In January 2003 he received at the “Midem” in Cannes the Prize AFAA (Association Française d’Action Artistique) and won the “Young Concert Artists Auditions” in New York. In 2003 he got the first prize at the ARD Competition in Munich. The last trumpetist who received this prize was Maurice André 40 years ago. In 2007, he received the “Victoire du Soliste Instrumental” at the French “Victoires de la Musique”.

In addition to his career as trumpet player David Guerrier has been studying the horn for now a few years. He is horn solo at the Orchestre National de France and has been appointed horn teacher at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Lyon.
