 CAGED (1950)
Directed by: John Cromwell
cast: Eleanor Parker, Agnes Moorehead, Ellen Corby, Hope Emerson

Eleanor Parker starred in this early WIP film as a newbie convicted of armed robbery and sentenced to 15 years in the old slammer. The hard edged life behind bars corrupts the gal instead of giving into the melodrama moralizing hogwash of the films that preceeded Caged. Nominated for several Oscars, and the model for many WIP's to follow.
'Caged" isn't quite like today's women-in-prison sexploitation flicks--and that's good. But this could certainly be a prototype for those movies. Many of the same elements are here: an innocent young woman wrongly sent to prison, tough and bitter cons, unfeeling and corrupt matrons--there's even a shower scene! You'll have to look hard for any allusions to homosexuality, however; the references are so oblique that they're practically nonexistant.  As one rotten break after another befalls her in the joint, she loses that innocence and becomes transformed into a classic hardened con, a transformation greatly aided by the seemingly simple device of a head-shaving she receives from a cruel matron.

CAGED BEAUTIES (1993) a.k.a. Fight For Love
Directed by Yuan Ching Lee or Hon Gwok Choi

Newlyweds are captured and taken to the prison/training camp of a group of revolutionaries, supposedly to convince to local village chief to hand over control of his village. While the chief is resisting, we follow the story of a number of people in the camp. The men and women are kept in separate areas and work under different conditions. The men are treated brutally and made to do manual labour and, if they try to escape, the sadistic commander uses them for target practice. The commander uses the pool of women as a kind-of private harem, but gets his kicks more out of humiliating and brutaizing than sex.

CAGED FURY (1984) a.k.a.Foltercamp der geschandeten frauen a.k.a. Hell train-Camp der verlornen frauen

Directed by Cirio H. Santiago.
cast: Jennifer Laine, Taafe O'Connell, Bernadette Williams.

Caged Fury is a cut above the usual torn-blouse Philippine prison picture, thanks to an intriguing gimmick. As has happened so many times before, a group of pneumatic lovelies, wearing the regulation halter tops and cutoffs, are herded together in a jungle stockade. This time, however, there's a mad scientist on the premise. The wacko medico's plan is to convert the lovely prisoners into zombielike human time bombs, programmed to destroy all enemies (and perhaps a few friends).  There are also the usual tortures, showers, breast, etc.

Unfortunately they end up arrested and thrown in prison where they are abused by the ubiquitous overbearing chief lesbian guard who forces inmates to become sexual slaves for the millionaires who frequent the penitentiary. Meanwhile, the naive girl's sister refuses to believe the claim that her sister is in Mexico shooting a film, and goes to LA to investigate the situation herself. When she finds out what has been happening, she enlists the aid of a biker and detectives to help her stop the insanity of it all.

CAGED HEAT 3000 (1995)
Directed by Aaron Osborne.
Kira (Lisa Boyle) is an inmate on an asteroid prison. After dispatching the main drug supplying queen bee by stabbing her about 50 times, everyone wants a piece of Kira. Including the fetish fancy prison officials. It seems that Kira isn't all bad. She was just seeking revenge for the dose/rape/murder of a fellow inmate. This gets her sentenced to another block, and a brief stint into the mines where she pisses off Billie the queen bee of the mines wonderfully played by Debra Beatty. After Kira kills several more inmates, she pals up with her soon to be released bunkmate, and gets moved to the lax horticultural detail! Billie makes a pact with the black queen bee, and together they try to dispatch Kira and her green thumbed buds.Caged Heat 3000 tries to escape it's low budget roots by adding spaceship footage from Murakami's Battle Beyond The Stars, and unlike the incoherent footage swiping of Fred Olen Ray's Star Slammers, the footage does add to the overall look of the film. There are some trully inspired moments of kink involving electrical bra bondage, space showers, spanking, and forced erotic dancing.

CAGED IN PARADISE   a.k.a. Caged In Paradiso  a.k.a. Prison haute securité a.k.a. Maximum Security
Directed by Mike Snyder

cast: Irene Cara, Pete Kowanko, Paula Bond

Eva exercises her right as a wife and accompanies her husband Eric when he is sentenced to Paradiso Island for his political crimes.  Paradiso is a prison state, a tropical island whose only inhabitants are exiled convicts gone brutally native. Tribal unions rule the island as the criminals divide themselves into separate camps for a better chance of dominance and survival. Dropped on the island and separated from Eric, Eva is immediately attacked.  She is rescued by a group of women, who tired of rape and the responsibility of cooking for loud burping men who don’t bathe, had created their own tribe.  They teach Eva to hunt and contribute to her community. Caged in Paradiso contains no nudity, lots of references to sexual activities – but little of it, and plenty of violence utilizing primitive weapons. Tip:  Avoid disappointment.  Ignore the box cover art with the hot uniformed cop who looks ready to discipline with one hand on a gun and the other hand on her hip and the frills of her bra exposed.  She’s not in the movie.

CAGED WOMEN (1970)

A Something Weird video

Cast: Bill Jones, Terri Johnson, Tess Drake

In one of the cheapest women-in-prison movies ever made A group of new prisoners check into the Crossbar Hotel. Our first wildcat is Yvonne, in for assaulting her old man. She's locked up in cellblock 13 by two hairy guards. "I can be brutal," explains one beery slob ("Big AC from This Gun is Loaded). "Go ahead!" she sneers. Her garments are removed and the sweating goon violates her soft flesh. As with most films from the Cosmos Film Collection, the sex is semi-hard.

CAGED WOMEN (1991) a.k.a. Prede umana   a.k.a  Caged women in purgatory a.k.a. Quartier Haute Securite  a.k.a.  insel der gequalten frauen

Written & directed by Leandro Lucchetti
cast: Pilar Orive, Isabel Lissobart, Elena Wiedermann, Christian Lorenz, Ronald Russo,

Here we have a prime example of a women-in-prison film: shower scenes, the lesbian prison guard, sexual abuse of the prisoners, unlawful imprisonment, staff murdering inmates, etc. However, this film is way over the top, increasing the sleaze factor enormously, and having not the slightest inclination to tell a believable story. For example, both the sexual abuse and the unlawful killings are organised: the women are first auctioned to the highest bidder, then let loose in the jungle, then hunted down, then raped, and then killed. Although superficially the film is much more exploitative (more sex and more violence) than even the usual genre entries by the likes of Cirio H. Santiago, Jack Hill, or Jess Franco, the viewer is always aware that none of this is serious and that turns it around, it makes it less nasty.

CELLBLOCK SISTERS: BANISHED BEHIND BARS (1995)  a.k.a. Banished Behind Bars
Directed by: Henri Charr

Pop-art visuals Banished behind bars - the plot of this jail-movie is only modestly interesting. Anyway, the pop-art visuals give this flick an interesting look. What else? All in all this is a kind of movie which is easy to consume - certainly no revolution but well designed. Uneven, but more depth than you'd expect Yes, yes, there is the obligatory strip search scene and the group shower scene, but CELLBLOCK SISTERS delivers a little more quality than the typical girls-behind-bars exploit.

CHAINED FOR LIFE (1950)
Directed by: Harry Fraser
cast: Hilton Sisters, Allen Jenkins
"Chained for Life" stars the Hilton sisters; real life Siamese twins from the vaudeville era who play (guess what) Siamese twin vaudeville stars (vaudeville, by the way, was pretty much a dead issue by the time this film was made), one of whom gets involved with a gigolo who abandons her on her wedding night, and the terrible retributions that follow. The Hilton sisters seem to be quite competent singers (though somebody should pick out better songs for them to sing), but don't quite cut it as actresses. When one has dialogue, the other completely goes blank, as if she were somewhere else. Most of the film, though, is padded out with other corny vaudeville acts who add nothing to the story, but help bring the movie to feature length rather than being a short subject.  All in all, for exploitation completeists only.

 A re-make of Red Heat .
You're into women in jail movies where they're forced to get naked and submissive. The basic story is a woman is falsely accused of some crime and sent to a Czech prison. At this prison, the warden and the warden's "assistant" basically make the prisoners into their sex slaves. They also make porn films with them. thats basically all there is to it. Its a movie you watch to see the females, not for a story.

CHASERS (1994)
directed by Dennis Hopper
cast:
Tom Berenger, Erika Eleniak, William McNamara

Is this trip necessary? A comparison between this movie and 'The Last Detail' is made by some, but 'Chasers' is flatter than a stretch of Interstate highway in west Texas. And like the scenery in the desert, there's nothing much to distinguish it, not even the fact that a female prisoner is being transported by two navy escorts this time around. No one in the cast comes off too well; with this lame script that's not surprising. Dennis Hopper, the director, won't give much space to this one if he ever writes a memoir, I don't think.

CHICAGO (2002)

Directed by: Rob Marshall

cast : Catherine Zeta-Jones, Renée Zellweger

Can an Academy Award winning film for Best Picture, really be a WIP? It may not be graphic, and it may not have nudity, but it is DOES have a bunch of non-law-abiding women killing their husbands. Hell, they even SING about it in glee. You don’t get much more cold-hearted than Zeta-Jones’ Velma Kelly. Murder motives have never been put to music better than in this film’s rendition of “Cell Block Tango”. As a movie – an adaptation of the popular Broadway musical – it isn’t the best musical out there, nor is it the best film you will ever see. But it is startlingly well edited with great songs, and that makes it worth watching.

A CHINESE TORTURE CHAMBER STORY (1994)
Directed by: Lam Hing
Starring: Lung Yung Hung, Ng Kai Wah
"Methods of Chinese torture date back to the Yu & Sung Dynasties. One of the most renowned cases found in history was the trial of "YoungNai-Mo and Little Cabbage". Falsely accused of murder, the two victims were forced to endure torturous punishments." Chinese Torture Chamber is weird through and through. It takes place sometime ago in China's glorious past, when the courts utilized Spanish Inquisition-like techniques to get the truth out of defendants. We are taken to the estate of a rich prince, married to an insatiable princess. He tries to please her by employing exotic "marital aids", but to no avail. She seeks fulfillment through another man. Sexually curious housemaids secretly watch their trysts through holes in the rice paper walls. One is caught, and becomes the subject of the wrathful princess' ire. Throughout the rest of the movie, as told in flashbacks, this poor maid must prove her innocence of murder (by exploding penis!). The court systematically tortures her and the prince (a suspected accomplice) first by spanking, then through more excruciatingly depicted techniques.
