PRISONERS OF CELL BLOCK H (serie TV 1979-1986) a.k.a. women in prison

This Australian series has, after 692 episodes, received cult status all over the world. The series takes place in Wentworth, a prison in Australia. Wentworth is a high-security female prison. The women are there for all sorts of crimes. We get to follow how they got there, their life in the prison and what becomes of them afterwards. We also get to follow the staff, their work in the prison and their personal relationships.

After the fall of Singapore to the Japanese in 1941, the women and children of the ex-patriot British and Dutch communities are incarcerated in a remote prison camp, where they must endure harsh conditions and brutal captors.

WILLOW B : WOMEN IN PRISON (1980)

A failed television pilot for an American version of the Australian series "Prisoner: Cell Block H" (1979), which was syndicated in the USA. This version focused primarily on a formerly rich socialite, who was convicted of DWI and Vehicular Manslaughter, and now spends her life in a terrifying section of the El Camino Women's Detention Center.

WOMEN IN PRISON (serie TV 1987-1988)

This comedy takes place in cell-bock J of the Bass Women's prison in Wisconsin. Some of the inmates are Vicki, a yuppie housewife framed for shop-lifting by her husband; Dawn, a black who murdered her husband; Bonnie, an English prostitute; Eve, the "old lady" who has been there for at least ten years; and Pam serving time for computer crimes. Meg was the guard and Blake the assistant warden.

DANGEROUS WOMEN (serie TV 1991-1992)

Dangerous Women was a nighttime drama series (soap opera) about a group of women that served time in prison together. Some of them were wrongfully jailed. Despite their differences, they became close, like a second family. The main character that ties the show together is Faith Cronin (a mobster's wife). To leave behind her criminal record and her abusive husband, she staged her own death (framing her husband in the process), and created a new identity. She bought a lakefront inn not far from the prison where she was once held with her friends. One by one, as the other girls were released from prison, they eventually took refuge at the inn and strived to start their lives over together.
"Some are guilty. Some are innocent. But all are dangerous."
